This information will explain what I will do with your personal information from the initial contact through to when counselling has ended.

Your privacy is very important to me and your personal information will be kept safe and secure. I adhere to the current data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection act 2018 .

I will keep a record of your personal details to help the process run smoothly. These details are kept securely in locked cabinets and are not shared with any third party.

My mobile phone is used only for counselling contacts and is locked and only accessible by me.

After counselling has ended your records will be kept for a specified time period and then securely destroyed.

Supervision: All counsellors are required to have regular supervision to ensure they are practicing safely and ethically. This is a requirement of the British association of Counselling and Psychotherapists Ethical framework 2018.

Confidentiality:

Counselling is confidential. This means that what you share with me will not be shared outside of the room and clinical supervision. The exception to this is if there is an ethical or legal reason for me to disclose information, such as if you or someone else is at risk of harm. If this arises, where possible, I will discuss with you what information needs to be shared and who the information will be shared with. This is a legal obligation and I would endeavour to talk this through with you first. Please ask if you have any questions about confidentiality.
